History

1921

Formation of „Seismos GmbH“
Dr. Ludger Mintrop, the founder of the company, developed the first seismograph suitable for field applications even before and during the Second World War.
This made it possible to detect significant boundaries between rock formations at depth with great accuracy. Although originally intended for application in the mining industry, the emergence of the oil industry resulted in the technique gaining considerable importance in that field.

1937

Formation of „PRAKLA GmbH“
During the Second World War, many exploration crews operated in occupied countries, particularly in Russia.

1963

Merger between „Seismos GmbH“ and „PRAKLA GmbH“
The takeover and quasi nationalization of Seismos by PRAKLA in 1963 was a political issue in so far as the political trend at the time was pointing in the direction of privatization. The merger resulted in a strong enterprise grouping. The company became internationally successful.

1972

„PRAKLA-SEISMOS Geomechanik GmbH“ was established in Uetze near Celle. All vibrators and mobile drilling rigs for the parent company were developed, manufactured and sold here. An extensive water well drilling programme in Ghana, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Morocco, Senegal and Chad occupied sections of Geomechanik for many years. In Ghana alone over 3,000 water wells were drilled and installed, including also the installation of all plant above ground.
